Culture Club: A Low - Key Design Toast at a Lush Los Feliz Estate

By Ryan Waddoups from Surface Magazine

On June 28, luminaries of the Los Angeles design sphere descended on Chet Callahan’s lush Los Feliz estate for an intimate dinner to celebrate Mondos, a furniture collection he designed in collaboration with Molly Purnell and Rachel Bullock of local studio Laun. Each item in the collection evokes the joyful energy of the namesake Ventura beach, from its ocean-like curves to a surf-inspired color palette. It surely set the tone for the evening, which channeled low-key energy with a special Mediterranean-inspired menu by Sera Domenica of Domenica Dinette that included oysters, kanpachi crudo, grilled romano beans with burrata, and feta cake with strawberries and balsamic. Guests also mingled throughout the property, a turn-of-the-century craftsman home known as the Cummings Estate meticulously renovated by Callahan. Notables in attendance include Ben Medansky, Jake Rode huth-Harrison, Staci Steinberger, Diedrick Brackens, Nikolai Haas, Mayer Rus, Alex P White, and more. Photos by Ye Rin Mok.
